Darren came across as a very friendly man who was very knowledgeable in the ECO4 grant so we chose to get the work done with him.
Unfortunately he sub-contracted us out to a company called EPCTEC who are hands down the worst company we've ever dealt with. We ran into issue after issue. We contacted Darren numerous times during the install but a few days into the install he stopped answering the phone and and text messages were answered with 'please phone the office' or 'i'll raise this with the office' then nothing was done. We were left with piles of rubbish outside our house on council land for weeks, a 1m2 hole in our landing ceiling and leaking radiators. We have been treated terribly by EPCTEC and Darren promised us that it would be him overseeing our job and looking after us throughout, this wasn't the case at all.
Our install began in May and we still have remedial works that haven't been rectified, including remedial works on jobs that have already been seen to twice. We have a leaking radiator, a system that can't sustain pressure so keeps shutting off, external pipes which aren't insulated and extortionately high electricity bills. Our house doesn't stay warm and we don't believe the heat pump should have been installed without our insulation being updated. For reference our electricity and gas bill last January combined was £112, this year it is £220 with 5 days still left in January and that's with only heating the house to 19 degrees as anything higher costs upwards of £14 per day.
I'm sure Darren would be fine on a job that he carried out himself, he seems like a nice guy. But our experience was that he lost interest when the job went wrong and we were left with no support and have been living a nightmare dealing with EPCTEC for months.
