I've been an EDF customer for years, their rates are always competitive though not always cheapest.EDF customer service is excellent, as an autistic customer I can struggle to describe problems but EDF staff like Julius allow me time to think and respond, clarify things I'm unsure of and send a summary of everything discussed during the call. Other EDF staff referred me to other organisations that can help when I discussed financial issues, and froze/waived payments for 3 months so I could access some help. Today Julius helped me select a tariff and set up a direct debit over the phone because I struggle with tasks like that online, too much switching back and forth looking up information and comparing things. Julius was patient, explained things clearly and emailed the contract info rather than reading it to me, my memory only stores what it sees. He also changed my smart meter to update more frequently so I don't have to read the meter outside any more.I'm consistently able to talk to a human being who listens and responds, without web forms or AI bots and to me, that's worth paying extra for. I like the fixed rate tariffs as they make it easier to budget, 12 and 24 month options at the time of this review with a standard variable option that has much higher standing charges.
