Poor quality throughout. Bare in mind that I haven’t bought the property as it is housing association owned, set on a social housing plot. I still feel that care should of been put into houses that were designated as social housing. I feel because they were set out on the plans as social housing houses, that perhaps not so much care or thought was put into building the homes to be somewhat livable. I Have had problems since day 1. As previous reviews show... no one from Elan homes actually cares. Even when they were still building on site, I wasn’t helped or listened to. A family member works as a laborer for Elan homes and told me about the small jobs they have to whack together and make presentable just so the houses pass an inspection. I moved into the property and wasn’t aware that the boiler that had been fitted, had a gas leak... I had been in the property for 2 months before this was noticed. The sealant they fill by the French doors is that bodged with gaps that large slugs and numerous insects come freely into the house. The roof leaks which then goes into the outside light fitting.. when the outside light was flicked on it would cause all the lighting in the house to trip out. The double glazed windows were not fitted properly. When opening, the window would slide out almost horizontal and you have to slam them to even get the window shut. The radiators are on small brackets what don’t hold them tightly, as the brackets are too small... not helpful when you have a 1 year old having one fall on them. We have a ceiling fan in the bathroom caked with black mould... water marks surrounding it, which leaks on myself when I’m on the toilet. We can no longer use the fan... in the tiny bathroom with no window, because it’s leaking and has caused the lights to flicker constantly and buzz when the fan is active. So it gets mega stuffy in the bathroom when washing. Making the whole house sweat. When Elan came to do the snagging review apparently this was normal?! When we’ve had the housing association repair man go into the attic to find the problem, the flu pipe which is connected to the fan is 3 meters too long? Good workmanship? So the condensation runs straight back through the ceiling.. causing more mould, more damp and a house that is only a year old to look like an absolute mess. I was also told at that point, that the insolation in the attic is way too thick with no air bricks. Hence why the house is always way too hot and stuffy even in the winter. I shouldn’t have to have windows open in December to feel at ease when having a shower. The one light in the lounge continuously flickers on and off, feel like we live in a coal mine. no ones investigated that matter yet. The bath leaked into the lounge and wrecked the ceiling due to poor fitting and no seal being placed around bath. No storm drains were fitted around the properties to take access water away, so rain water gathers outside the patio doors, causing massive puddles which stay for days. When moving in the floors (hallway) were not ready for flooring to be fitted, so we had to pay for them to be leveled before We could have carpets/ wood flooring put in.... apparently this is standard and a majority of new builds would require you to pay out for this work to be done.....we had a persimmon new build before Elan and we didn’t have to pay out for that added extra with them. Reviews and news stories would show Persimmon homes were bad... this is another level! Just a smart looking housing estate, chucked up with no care or detail. As long as it looks good what does it matter about poor workmanship? Both me and my partner work full time before anyone thinks this is some benefit bum moaning their head off with nothing better to do. We pay rent which should supply us with a house to feel safe and secure in... it doesn’t.
