A mixed experience at a renowned hotel

We spent one night at a well-known hotel after visiting friends in the city. We aimed to indulge ourselves and specifically chose this place for its luxurious reputation and iconic architecture. Our room on the 16th floor offered a truly spectacular view. Waking up to the city skyline, especially from the bed and bathtub, was undeniably the highlight of our stay. However, I anticipated a lot more from a hotel of its stature and price. The check-in process was surprisingly lackluster, feeling no different from a budget accommodation. The reception staff were not particularly friendly or inviting, and the entire interaction felt hurried and impersonal. It gave the impression that we were being assessed based on our appearance. We were dressed casually for travel, but that should not matter, especially in a hotel that prides itself on luxury. The room itself was acceptable, but aside from the view, it lacked a sense of luxury. The design felt rather ordinary, and the layout was somewhat awkward, particularly with a lamp placed in an odd spot in the room. Nothing was particularly wrong, but nothing stood out either. The building is remarkable, and the views are truly unforgettable. I would suggest staying here for the experience of the iconic venue and the scenery alone. However, if you seek genuine luxury service and ambiance, this hotel falls short.

Misleading ticket purchase experience

I bought 2 tickets through the company's website, clearly assuming the event would take place at the iconic venue! When trying to locate the 'Grosser Concertsaal' at the venue, I found it was actually at a different location in Hamburg. I now refer to it as 'ElbDISharmonie.'

Enjoyable atmosphere with a friend

I visited with a friend, and we both appreciated the atmosphere. Although tickets are somewhat pricey, the harbor can also be enjoyed for free.

Frustrating ticket purchasing process

The ticket purchasing website is quite frustrating. Despite clicking 'Tickets' the moment sales opened, I found myself over 500 in line. After waiting for 40 minutes, I managed to select the tickets I wanted. However, when I tried to check out, the system logged me out and wouldn't allow me to retry. Thank you for having such a poor IT system; I won't attempt to buy tickets again.

Disappointing customer service experience

I encountered very poor and unwelcoming customer service. I purchased 6 tickets from the website, and only when they arrived did my husband realize the event was not at the intended venue. The next day, he called to return the tickets, but the representative informed him that it was too late for a refund. The website was confusing, leading to our mistake, yet the response was cold and unsympathetic. Additionally, we were misinformed about parking validation, which resulted in us paying more than expected. Unbelievable! I will not consider this venue again.
