What in the world has happened to Sony? It was the go-to company for consumer electronics. My wife and I purchased a Sony XR48A90K OLED TV in Sept of 2022. One year and one month later, it failed while watching it. The problem is the software. Something glitched in the Android Operating System, and now the TV cannot be re-booted or made to work. After following the reboot process with Sony Support, the television just sits there for fifteen minutes until the SONY logo comes up, then it goes into an "Update" mode that never ends. It cannot find the wireless link (needs the password) or ethernet to do the update. Sony Support, which sounded like it was in Mexico City, was kind and helpful, until it didnt work and they found out our unit was one month beyond their narrow one year warranty. We have after-market support on it because our dealer did not offer Sony extended warranties, so we will see how that goes. But to have a state of the art television die in just over a year by software suicide is just ridiculous. I thought I would never say this, but why buy Sony ever again?!! They dont care. If it is not an easy reboot fix, you are dead in the water and must take your product to a Sony Service Center to get it going again. Bad! Bad! Bad! They do an automatic software update, and the programming errors become our problem.
