After leaving germany and filing my last tax year tax return, the tax office asked me a question. The letter said I could use ELSTER for responding. It doesn't allow me to register with my foreign ID. It doesn't allow me to register with my foreign address. What's the point? If I am already in Germany, why would I need such a system? Are you bunch of dorks?

Extremely rude and not very helpful for foreingers to do their tax. They refuse to speak anything else but german, their website is impossible to understand even translated, and the people hang up and only answer you in german when you try in english. So critical. Germany is so behind welcoming foreingers
I had problems completing my return for the Grundsteuer. I contacted the NRW hotline and asked for there assistance. The personnel were extremely helpful, patent and competent. After 10 minutes my was return was completed and sent.
