I flew Amsterdam → Christchurch via Dubai with Emirates for the first time and had a very poor experience.• IT / check-in failure: My dad and I share the same name and Emirates’ website/IT couldn’t handle it — no online or kiosk check-in and selected seats were lost. This caused unnecessary delays and hassle at the airport.• Baggage failure: Two of three checked suitcases were left in Dubai. We reported them at Christchurch and I can track them with AirTags: one suitcase arrived in Christchurch a few days later, the other is still in Dubai. Emirates hasn’t contacted us and customer service only tells us to “wait.” We had to buy clothes and toiletries because of the delay.• Customer service & accountability: Responses from Emirates have been slow or non-existent; being told delayed bags “might not fit” on a flight is not an acceptable excuse for luggage that should have traveled with us.Bottom line: For the price we paid this is unacceptable. I’m very dissatisfied and — unless things change — I won’t choose Emirates again (unfortunately we still have to fly them home).
