I purchased 2 x leather recliner armchairs from Annetts, Hereford, and within 7 months both had developed faults; ‘puddling’, collapsed/flattened footrests and distorted seats. An appointment was made for Emmiera to inspect them. The technician was 45 minutes earlier than the allotted time given to me by Emmiera and there was no phone call advising me of the earlier time, which would have been helpful as I was in the middle of helping a chemotherapy patient into bed when he arrived. Thankfully, I had seen his sign-written van outside because when the technician entered my property he didn’t verify who he was, which company he was representing or show any identification. All captured on my doorbell camera. He said he only had one chair on his job sheet, not two, despite my complaints to Annetts that both chairs had faults. However, he did eventually look at both chairs. During the inspection, he acknowledged that “puddling” was more pronounced on one chair and was shown that both chairs have developed baggy, misshapen seat cushions and flattened/collapsed recliner footrests. These issues had been documented in photographs previously provided to Annetts. However, none of these points were included in his report. The only point in the report was a ‘split in the lumber’ of one chair (which I was unaware of) and was a manufacturing fault. I was also concerned about a couple of things the technician said, firstly, that I was sitting in the chairs incorrectly, I should sit with my legs/feet wide apart on the recliner footrest, and secondly, referring to the cost of the two armchairs (total 2.5k), he said ‘you get what you pay for’. I have referred the matter back to Annetts and I’m currently awaiting their response. For the record, doorbell footage shows he arrived at 14.47 and left at 14.58.
