Having seen gorgeous lingerie modelled on social media, I decided to snap up some bra and panty sets in September 2020. Empress Mimi's selling point is no underwires in their bras and comfortable but sexy lingerie for women of all shapes and sizes so I was itching to try. At the time I was a UK 18-20 (usually an XL/XXL depending on the store) but according to their size guide, my measurements indicated that I'd wear a M bra and L panty. I was utterly sceptical of this but imagined it was down to the stretch in the materials that justified the smaller sizing. With these results to hand, I ordered the bra and panty sets for Côte d'Azur and Madame X; the latter being their most popular product. The Azur set arrived first (the Madame X should have been included, but it was missing from the parcel). Regardless, the Azur set was a total waste of time - the sizing on their website did not correlate with the products at all! Aside from the fact it was far too small, it wasn't the luxury lingerie I was expecting. Loose hems, messy stitching, and being a one shoulder bra, even if it was the right size it was so uncomfortable to wear, let alone look at. I got onto customer services firstly enquiring about the missing Madame X set. (Apparently shipping was delayed by 6 weeks due to high demand and the pandemic situation; even though EM HQ is in the UK, the products are in the US so it would take a while to dispatch, etc.) I then mentioned the failure of the Azur set and advised I'd like a refund. The first "customer service pixie" who got back to me tried to change my mind about the refund advising I exchange for a larger size(!), to which I had to reply a firm "no" as I had all ready said how I disliked the style and it did not suit my body. The next pixie understood and refunded me. As I had initially decided to hang on for the Madame X set, she offered the option to change my sizing for it. After a month of to'ing and fro'ing emails about my measurements and correct sizing, she changed it to an XL bra and XL panty.So I waited. Six weeks came and went. The set never arrived. Customer service pixies were more difficult to get hold of this time. The longest I had to wait was another fortnight for a simple update. By mid November, the latest news was yet another 6 week delay, and I was fed up waiting. I asked for a refund, which was granted relatively quickly. Not the easiest of processes, let me tell you. The products look pretty on the website and the socials, but I'll never know for sure based on my experience. The lack of luxury in the products I did receive, plus the hassle of trying to get hold of customer services, not to mention the shipping delays is a major no-no. Never again. They get 1 star for giving me my money back. Very disappointing experience.
