Purchased 2 Arlo Essential Cameras last summer and on initial setup they worked great. But since the batteries drained and I needed to recharge them (which requires uninstalling and bringing inside) I have had nothing but trouble. I finally decided to reach out to their support team and got the full story... 1. You MUST use ONLY a 5V 2A USB Charger which is not included with your purchase - this is not documented anywhere on their packaging, nor is it a standard configuration sold in popular electronic stores. I only found 1 option on Amazon (hope it works). You would think they would just include the charger! 2. They recommend only using the USB micro cable that comes with the camera - it's just 1' long. 3. It's recommended to plug the charger directly into a wall socket (again undocumented) - meaning you have to leave the camera on the floor to charge - how stupid. 4. And this is the kicker - the support guy told me that you will know the camera is charging properly when there are NO light indictors on. I can't think of a more counter-intuitive product design. And to make matters worse they insist you use the 2.4GHz band on your wifi router. I had to call my ISP to get them to create a 2nd SSID just to try to see if that solved the issue (pending)! Find another product.
