First, the company rep went on Xmas holiday (2024) before submitting my order for an asphalt roof. He promised me upgraded (top rated) wrap under the shingles. And, underneath the wrap, I was supposed to get new wooden decking. I got neither. I got basic wrap and three 3x5 sheets of plywood only Those three sheets were to cover the holes in the roofline for prior ventilation.
Because my house is on a steep hill, they could not get the debris bin close to the house and had to drag the old shingles off on tarps. Needless to say, the help was not careful in the removal process and numerous nails and bits of asphalt shingles were found all over. They were to remove the wrecked gutter system as well. So they removed the trays and left all the downspouts - no one came to the door to ask if that was sufficient or if I wanted it all to come down. My understanding prior to job start - everything would be removed.
I caught the workers before they left and had them replace the wood work on the front porch roof that they had torn off by accident.
They left the building permit up on my deck railing, and no one ever came by to review it. Finally, after two weeks passed, I took it down and drove it to city hall where I found the job was listed as successfully completed. I asked how that happened and the woman behind the desk said it was probably reviewed from the street and approved. I said thanks and left. Meant to say, "Thanks for nothing and your permitting process is a bad joke..."
Honestly, I feel like I got screwed over. Gave them a $5000. check to start the job, then got noticed by their finance company "Watercress" to start paying $22,800. at 11%, at job completion. I wasn't quick enough and had to pay $23,684. in August 2025. At just under $29,000. for a simple shingle roof, I feel like I've been robbed. Twenty years ago the same level of materials and installation cost me $2,600!!
Erie, don't bother trying to address my complaints. I view it as a hard lesson learned. Still finding old roofing nails...
Edit: the job was completed 2/3/2025, not 2/3/2026. Can't get the date to update beyond month and day.
