Flight cancelled so took an additional day to get to Abu Dhabi. When we finally arrived at Abu Dhabi airport, the transfer that we had booked and paid for wasn’t there so we had to pay for a taxi to the hotel. The hotel wasn’t informed of the delay so had let our room go as they classed us as a “no show’. The hotel then charged us more for the room they did have available. First two days of the holiday were ruined as we hadn’t slept for 30 hours. I contacted Etihad Holidays more or less immediately and did get a reply saying they’d look into the issues and get back to me within 28 days. Despite numerous emails to them it is now 3 months down the line and still no progress. For a cancelled flight with a delay longer than 4 hours there is a standard compensation structure that all airlines adhere to but even this hasn’t been forthcoming from them. Use them at your own peril. If nothing goes wrong you’ll be fine but if it does… you have been warned…
