Today I received an email stating that the trip that I had paid in full back in February was cancelled due to the owner no longer wanting to do short term rentals. My trip is in 2 MONTHS and all of the properties in the surrounding areas are either booked or DOUBLE the price we have paid. They allege that they have looked for another property to accommodate but they were unable to find anything so they have issued us a refund for their portion and we had to contact HomeAway for the remainder of the balance. While we fully understand that the owner can make decisions about their property, this company should do everything in their power to protect their customers from this type of behavior. We have made travel arrangements from different states to come to Florida and now we have to try and come up with additional money so that we can have a place to stay for Christmas.
