Got sent defective product and asked to pay to get it 'inspected'

I spent nearly £300 on a Exped Megamat Auto mattress. When I tried to use it, it was leaky. When I informed the exped customer support team, they told me that I need to send it back at my own cost for them to 'inspect' it! So, you get sent a defective product, and for them to fix it you have to spend a lot on postage (it's a large item) just for them to 'inspect' it.My advice is: Don't buy anything from Exped.
