I contacted a service for a drain CCTV to trace the route of my drains through the garden. An engineer from a related company arrived but found a partial obstruction just a meter in, preventing the survey. He suggested that the pipe might need excavation due to a possible collapse or displacement. Although I offered to dig it out myself, he then mentioned that he could attempt to clear the obstruction with a pressure washer, contradicting his earlier statement. The cost for this attempt was £80 for every half hour plus £60 for equipment use, with no guarantees. He was on site for about 20 minutes, mostly filling out paperwork, and given that he couldn't fulfill my request, I was surprised to be charged £235 in total. They advertise no call-out fees, but it felt like a money-making scheme. If you have deep pockets, go ahead; otherwise, consider alternatives.
