As a female i felt out of place the whole time due to our cluster with the boys, i feel as though that should have been stated beforehand since it is an unrealistic thing to do (women and men never play with or against eachother) . It was also very overwhelming since i never got the chance to carry or be given the ball in the match, so my potential wasn’t actually shown.
The foundation of the trial was set up very well. You first learn about Firstpoint USA and what role they play in the scholarship process. Then going out to the pitch to do the trial itself. Personally I think if there was maybe more positional clinic for their sake, it gives them better intel as to how well we play in our positions.
The introduction to the scholarship program was quite good, establishing clear expectations for focusing on the trial. Initially, the warm-ups were enjoyable, and I felt relaxed. The passing station drills were acceptable, although the coach points out mistakes. During the matches, I played at my own pace, which helped me stand out.
I had a wonderful time during the trial; it was both enjoyable and productive. I felt great after completing all the training sessions and believed I was gaining valuable insights from the coaches. I also made some friends, which was a nice bonus.
