Ordered a kitchen timer which was advertised as “being supplied from UK” and which “had a loud alarm.” It duly arrived but from Auckland, New Zealand, and the alarm was about as loud as a “Nat’s Fart!” I could hardly hear it in a quiet room from about 1 mt away
Of course, AFTER THE EVENT, I checked reviews of this company to find out that they are a bunch of chancers. They will chance anything to turn a buck, from sending the wrong product to not sending any product/s at all, to being “extremely economical with the truth” regarding delivery dates, copyright breaches, country of operations etc., etc., etc.
The prices of the products seemed quite reasonable until I checked, again AFTER THE EVENT, to find out that the timer which cost me £12.98 with Fishpond, was offered at £4.99 on Amazon. There’s no fool like an old fool, and at 75 I should know better.
The good thing is that I will now examine any new websites I deal with in greater depth. If the statement “Free World Wide Shipping” comes up, do not partake. Also with these sites check reviews. If you find something you like on the site take the description and Google it – it will be sold somewhere else on the web and probably cheaper.
All in all, £12.98 is not a great price to pay for a very instructive lesson. Mind, I would have rather had a couple of pints instead!!
