We hired Forbes on a conditional fee basis (ie ‘no win no fee) in August 2021 to get probate action from family executors who were dragging their feet. We received the final payout in April 2025 after legal costs of £30,000 at our side and a corresponding £27,000 from estate lawyers. Our disappointment with Forbes was in their lack of initiative or resolve to keep up pressure on the other side for action, nor any modicum of creativity in devising new angles to keep them on the back foot. Instead, it quickly settled into chummy first name emails between the lawyers whilst waiting nearly 4 years for time to take its course. Every initiative taken by Forbes was provoked by us making suggestions and demanding action, all of which we could have done ourselves. But the singular advantage in appointing solicitors to act for us was that it forced the other side to take action which otherwise may never have happened. On that basis alone we award a grudging 2 stars.’And notably Forbes’ final action was to ensure they were paid from the estate before any funds reached us, then not to send us any form of sign off or thanks for our business. I will be honest with you. I have very big issue for my life and have been scammed purchases for the premise business, the seller provided me false information, account and statement. I believe it’s called fraud by false representation, serious fraud, business crime, I will have to look for solicitor who can sort it out with my issue. Due to I lost around £ 20 thousand pound and getting bankrupt. I tried to contact this firm. I enquired them via online chat, they said they will contact me few days but no response, I contacted them again, no response. I feel they don’t want to talk with me due to I am not able to speak/hear over the phone. Due to I am profoundly deaf. I told them to email to me. I feel they don’t want to involve with me due to I am deaf.

We called earlier today. Mr John Lambe left a message at 3pm.I spoke to him on his hands free car phone on his way home at 5.30pm.Mr Lambe was so helpful. Understandably, he said he could not take notes! However, he listened to the issues and he gave advice.He was so kind, professional and helpful.Whilst we are doing everything right at the moment going forward we will definitely use their practice.Being based outside London and having dealt with three southern solicitors over recent years, I can honestly say the North wins every time for empathy and care! Leonie is an outstanding solicitor who has dedicated her career to helping clients who gives her clients a voice when they might not have one themselves due to their disability. She is very responsive in responding to queries about my relatives case and replies to e-mails and phone-calls very quickly which is an excellent trait in a solicitor. She was very compassionate, caring, and committed to the outcome of my relatives case which was a very good outcome and secured justice for her. Leonie's service over the past four years has been absolutely perfect and she is supported by an excellent team of Carole Purdie (her secretary) who is on the ball and does her best to support client queries too. I would rate Forbes Solicitors 5/5 stars and I can't identify any recommendations on how they improve their services because they provided a consistent perfect service over the past four years!
From our original first contact with Shannon at Forbes Solicitors in september 2023 regarding our wills, everything ran quite smoothly ,and these were finalised in late december. The Lasting Power of Attorney Property and Financial Affairs and Health and Welfare have now been completed to both our satisfactions even though during the process one of the executors moved premises. A big thank you to all concerned both for the work carried out and the final completion of this matter.
I contacted these Solicitors for advice, with a view to them taking on my case.The receptionist said someone would call me back, on a withheld number. Two weeks later, nothing. I phoned them again, 0800 number, so not able to contact anyone direct. This time someone did return my call, but I didn’t catch the ladies name, and deleted the message by accident.I phoned them again, and explained what had happened. They said someone would call me - again, nothing.The last time I phoned them, and complained about their service, and lack of, the receptionist put me through to a man, who took brief details of my case. He said someone would call me back, to say if it was something they could take on. Over 4 weeks on - NOTHING - I wouldn’t use them now, even if they offered me a free service - My experience was THE WORST EVER!!!!Aren’t Solicitors supposed to be someone we can trust in?
