The booking system only displays the lowest available fare, failing to transparently show alternative fare options provided by the airline that could significantly differ in inclusions. In my situation, I booked a flight with an airline that did not display a higher fare option that was available for just £10 more, which included checked baggage. After completing my booking, I found out that adding a checked bag directly with the airline would cost £400, essentially the same as the flight price. This additional cost could have been avoided had the alternative fare been shown during the booking process. The service claims this is standard procedure and not an error, as it only shows the lowest fare. However, this practice places considerable hidden costs on the customer post-purchase, resulting in a total travel price much higher than expected at checkout. When escalating the issue to senior support, I received no assistance. The problem lies not with airline policies but with the lack of fare transparency at the time of sale. Booking directly with the airline would have been more economical and straightforward. While this business model may seem competitive at first glance, it subjects consumers to excessive costs after booking. I strongly recommend booking directly with airlines instead.
