We paid about [top rate] for a 2 bed 2 bath on the UES. Having been long term residents of the neighborhood before moving out - we knew this was expensive (as a monthly rental), but believed could make sense compared to a hotel. On the positive: the apartments themselves are clean and newly furnished. There are every amenity you need to stay. However: 1. The buildings are really old. The lobby is dirty and the laundry room is in a dark, dirty basement with scary steep stairs. 2. The internet is really unreliable - which was a major issue for us - given I was working and there is no other way for the kids to watch TV. I had to go spend other money on top (and a lot of my own time) to get a mobile internet modem.
