I ordered a 4m x 3m Dorset Log Cabin mid January 2025 when the website advised the lead time to be 6-10 weeks. So I was thinking it would arrive by the end of March.
I chased when we got to mid March but no date available.
The months roll by and no sign of a delivery date. More chasing emails and still no delivery estimate. I asked to speak to a customer service manager, but 'they don't do that'
FINALLY got a delivery date of the first week in June.
Delivery arrives and its a single delivery guy with a LOT of wooden parts to be unloaded. I found one damaged part before he'd even got half way through.
A week later I started building the cabin. Whether the longer parts were delivered warped or had started to warp in the week they were stored in my dry garage I don't know, but I had to put in a request for a number of replacement parts because the long lengths had warped by twisting along the length.
I also had to report parts that were the wrong size. I'm not talking 1-2mm here, its the main floor bearers that are meant to be 75mm wide were only 61mm wide.
'Replacement parts will be delivered in 3-7 working days'. Seven weeks later the parts arrived in two separate deliveries.
I put two more wall layers in the cabin and find the parts that were stored in my nice dry garage have also warped.
Fast forwarding here, as I've recently had my FIFTH delivery of replacement parts and I've managed to get all the walls up. Bearing in mind that every set of replacement parts took a minimum of a month to be delivered and I've had to chase every single one.
The window frames were fitted and there was an inch gap between the top and the top beam. Had to buy wood from B&Q to resolve that one.
This past weekend I've finally been able to fit the roof slats. Lets gloss over one of the roof purloins being taller than the slot. I had a huge pile of roof slats so just started fitting them. Turns out I'm a pack of 10 slats missing so not only does my roof have a great hole in one corner, I can't fit the roof felt to protect it.
I've just spoken with Stef at GBD, who will check if the stock is available and email me, if so it will be despatched in '3-7 working days'.......
Finally received the missing roof slats, fitted them and found the roof felt cracks when you unroll it. It is the cheapest of the cheap and I wouldn't trust it to keep the structure watertight. Had to buy decent roof felt at B&Q.
Once on, I've found all four corners of the structure leak water into the building at various heights.
Had to paint the exterior with weather proof paint and then use a ridiculous amount of silicone sealant to stop the water.
The instructions are terrible, the diagrams don't match the product, the terms used change from step to step and differ from the part listing.
I regret buying from this company and should have paid more to a more reliable company.
