You're asked a wildly unnecessary number of detailed questions - which frankly feels quite insulting at times - and have to provide documents after documents after documents. Only for underwriters to reject your mortgage and provide zero reasons when asked why. So we are expected to provide absolutely all details to every aspect of our lives, and Gatehouse Bank can just operate in complete vagueness. That seems very fair. To paint a picture of how bad my experience was, at one point during the process I told my adviser (Ary Jaff) that I would be out of the country for 10 days and would not be able to take calls until I returned to the UK. He then proceeded to call me 4 times consecutively (!) for something completely non-urgent, to which I was forced to pick up while at an important family event. Completely unprofessional.Go with an Islamic mortgage provider like StrideUp instead, if you want to keep your sanity and feel respected during what is already a difficult process as it is.
