**Update**
My claim has been reviewed and successfully resolved. Thank you Generali for taking a second look at the information.
Annual Insurance coverage scam. I bought Annual Travel coverage for 3 years running. Had a claim that crossed years. Was denied because the claim wasn't payable in "either year". DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
I purchased coverage via orbitz for the 1 night hotel stay , for the purpose of covering me in case if snow storm travel cancellation. While the snow storm was already on the news, I was unaware whether my travel would be affected.Unfortunately trains didn't run on that day, so I had to miss my hotel stay and filed a claim for little over $200. Soon I received an email denying my claim because I purchased coverage when the snow storm was in the news ...Why was I sold the policy then?If I don't get paid, this is going to local small claims court.
BUYER BE AWARE OF THE FINEPRINT IN THIS COMPANY'S POLICY: “This Policy does not pay for any loss caused by or resulting from: 22. any issue or event that could have been reasonably foreseen or expected when you purchased the coverage;” and “23. a Natural Disaster that occurs on or before the purchase date of this Policy;” and “24. a tropical storm or hurricane that is named on or before the purchase date of this Policy;”In essence, if you are traveling to a VRBO to avoid storm impacts such as power outages or being isolated due to impassable or icy roads, your rental purchase is not covered by Generali's policy. This week, North Carolina was hit by a huge ice storm covering much of the US. In anticipation of a potential power outage, I rented a VRBO in Wilmington, NC, outside the ice zone and at no risk of power outages. With regard to the policies (above) why would a company disallow benefits for a customer that is logically addressing how to handle a potential power outage? The fact that I had "reasonably foreseen" storm impacts is the point of coverage in the first place - if I lose power, I travel to the VRBO and of not, I don't. Neither the company nor I knows in advance which is why the coverage is needed in the first place. The other really "cute" policy they have is another obvious way for them to avoid approving claims - if a storm is "named" in advance of policy purchase, you are not covered. Once again, this storm started in New Mexico! Of course, it was named days in advance of anyone knowing the specific location impacts in Raleigh days later. Oh well, too bad for you buddy. It is your fault you were planning properly, and it is your fault the potential power outage while foreseen did not occur. Thanks for you cash.
I purchased the insurance for a trip booked through Vrbo. I had to cancel due to the extreme winter storm in the area. I was unable to travel because of an ice storm and the event we were scheduled to go to was cancelled due to unsafe conditions. The claim was denied so I will be filing official complaints. Do not waste your money on this.
