I love working with companies who are creating great software and running at the speed of light. I was there for early days Miro, Butter, etc and it was super exciting being a user who had your voice heard. As I work in the nonprofit/edu sector, buying full licences for software is next to impossible as we have to go through lengthy requisitions processes. With Miro and Canva, I have a free educational /nonprofit licence which gives me full access to pro features. Initially with Genial.ly, I met with a lovely coordinator online, did a webinar for them and was given a master account for free. I used this account in the institution I work in for lots of student infographics. Then one day out of the blue, my designs looked wonky and I noticed the big Genial.ly logo in the bottom left. I logged into my account and found all the branding I had uploaded was gone, all the typefaces gone, loads of content gone. All the folders I used, gone. There was no warning, it just happened. 3 weeks out from the start of the new year I had to pull 7 day work weeks to recreate all our iframes over in Canva. Obviously I know I was very lucky to get a master account at the time, but there was no indication it would be downgraded and certainly no opportunity or warning given to upgrade my account before countless hours of work was lost.During this time I tried several times to contact Genial.ly support via email and no one responded. I even thought if a nonprofit licence was reasonable I might be able to beg in work for them to get it. However no one answered the nonprofit emails either. Like other people have noted here, people in education don't have time for software to tap out or for a company to mess up their designs without warning. I feel let down by Genial.ly and reluctant to trust them again.Edit: Genial.ly were in touch, and as suspected my main source of contact was on holidays. Due to a communication error, support were awaiting the main point of contact to handle my query. They reached out and were good enough to offer the account to be reinstated for a time period, which is sound. All my work is back as is the branding and folders.I still think there needs to be a bit more communication, even just an automated email that says "you're account needs to be upgraded by X date or you will lose your pro features" but they've shown there's a commitment to listening to customers and helping us out. I'm willing to see what happens with Genial.ly over the coming year. I really think senior management need to consider how they can finance a support team that scales with the company.
