Almost 4 years ago, my 12 year old grandaughter came to me with a picture of a cream colored Doberman. She had contacted the owner who told her the Dobie was $90. I then contacted the owner and arranged to meet to see the dog. When we met, the owner explained that she had lost her job and couldn't afford to feed the dog. I immediately knew the dog was coming home with me because it's ribs and hip bones were showing and it looked like the dog was starving. Although she stated the cost was $90, I gave her $200 because of her situation and because she had two small girls, maybe 4 and 6 (I'm guessing) with her who were crying and upset at losing their pet. Now I had never heard of "Get Your Pet" up to this point because my grandaughter who was 12, only brought me a picture and contact information for the owner. The owner stated that there was a pet adoption company that she had the dog listed on but that she would take care of the fees. Then, a few weeks later, my grandaughter started getting threatening emails from Get Your Pet, so I looked them up. According to their info, all pets are checked by a vet prior to listing. There is no way any responsible vet would have cleared a dog that was clearly undernurished and sickly. In the mean time, we took the dog, "Champ" to the vet to get all of his shots, and start him on a weight gain plan. After about 6 months, Champ had gained the weight and appeared healthy. We then had him neutered. Then my 12 year old granddaughter started getting calls from a collection agency. I then spoke to them and explained the situation and also advised them that although GYP states all dogs are vet checked, that was obviously false. I also advised them that the original owner stated they would take care of the $90 fee and that GYP can contact her. Since then, I have received numerous emails and calls from a collection agency asking for or emailing my grandaughter. Every time, I explain things to them yet we still get the emails and calls. About 1 year ago, Champ was diagnosed with advanced lymphoma and after numerous medications and vet visits, it got to the point that Champ had to be put down. Now I understand that GYP is out $90 but I also know that Champ was never checked by a vet as they claim and since the original owner stated that they would take care of the fee out of the $200 I gave her, I am NOT going to pay any money to GYP. The fact that harassing emails and phone calls were directed at my grandaughter even after I advised all involved that she was 12 years old and to contact me, they still keep sending emails and calling her. It's only $90 and it's not that I can't afford it but it will be a cold day in H&$L before I give one cent to a company that acts this way. If they would have just contacted me (I provided all my contact info) instead of harassing a 12 year old, and were nice about it, I would have paid even though I already paid the owner. Now....no.

They gave me diferent peoples acct that did not work. I informed get a pet but the puppy is still there. There are actually 3 pictures pictures of the same dog with 3 different name. It was all a scam.

I want to give NO stars

I want to give NO stars! Person named Jenamarie out of Los Angeles is a scammer on the Get Your Pet website! Not sure how people get to advertise and scam people and not be screened to be on what I thought was reputable website. This is why I HATE people (for the most part) :(

Too Many Scammers = no one‘s home at this animal rehoming site

This company sells itself as a way for people who have to give up a pet or ‘Guardians’ to connect with possible new ‘Adopters’ people looking for a pet. The problem is — it’s so easy now to generate fake AI images of dogs and cats that look like the same creature from different angles. Beware, scammers are all over the place here. My first two posts got quick responses. After some back and forth with questions, I set up times to meet with the two different guardians and their pets. Although both these pet owners were in different places with different animals, I got exactly the same response from each. Same layout, same content. I was asked for additional personal information, and was told I needed to submit payment to a Venmo account for important paperwork associated with the pet’s change in ownership before the meet-up could take place. The site explicitly states guardians are not supposed to ask for payment. Adopters submit payment to the site (to keep the site up and running) once they actually adopt the pet from the guardian. The site seems like a great idea for a service - but is there actually anyone at getyourpet managing the site? Send a message about the scammers to the helpline - you won’t get a response. So not only are there scammers posting pet pictures and trying to get you to send them money before you’re even set to go meet with the maybe real, perhaps AI generated dog or cat — but the site itself might also be a bit of a scam in that all email responses are autogenerated. Pretty discouraging if you’re somebody looking for a new pet and trying to make sure that someone who has a pet to rehome doesn’t have to traumatize an animal by taking it to a shelter. While there may be some real pet owners here who are trying to connect with people like me, seems BRIAN ERIKSEN, JEFF TUCKER and ANGELA MARCUS aren’t home at their animal rehoming site.
