Our solar Pv system was installed in summer 2023 and comprises of a GivEnergy inverter, 2 batteries and an EV charger.
We previously had problems with our batteries completely discharging during cold weather ( e.g. Jan 2025). On that occasion we were told that our batteries were holding insufficient charge to power on and would need DC charging by our installer, which is chargeable. So we had to pay for our installer to come out and rectify the problem.
After this experience we ensured that we selected the battery options to reserve 5% of the charge and enabled winter battery conditioning. We thought that this would avoid future problems. Unfortunately, this has not prevented problems. In November 2025 our batteries lost all charge during the cold weather, all their lights went off and I haven't been able to restart them.
-I first sought help from GivEnergy by telephone on 26th November. A call back was promised.
-I rang back 1 week later because no call back had been received. I was told that some people had been waiting longer but our case would be marked urgent and I would be called back when possible.
Christmas came and went, bringing much cold weather which has possibly greatly damaged our batteries.
-On 8th January I rang back and spoke to 'Rachel the bot' who said it would mark the case urgent. Nothing happened.
-On 19th January I emailed GivEnergy regarding the problem and received an email back with a case number and saying GivEnergy aim to give a 1st response within 5 days. No response was received.
-On 21st February I emailed again, asking for help within 5 working days. I have heard nothing.
The customer service has been appalling. The lack of timely response may mean that the batteries have been badly damaged and need replacing. The GivEnergy batteries should be designed to function during winter weather otherwise they are not fit for purpose. I need urgent free of charge help from GivEnergy
