I genuinely enjoyed my time as a Trainee Surveyor, learning from two experienced professionals who were supportive and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, my experience in the property office was quite the opposite. The individual in charge was inexperienced and insecure, creating a toxic atmosphere marked by two-faced behavior and patronization. New starters were often blamed for mistakes, even when poor communication and disorganization were at play. This leadership style prioritized self-promotion over team support, making the environment exhausting and demoralizing for anyone serious about their career. It's no surprise that staff turnover is high; however, some employees may not recognize that this is rooted in the office culture. Despite these challenges, I value the lessons learned from my supportive colleagues, which will aid my professional growth.
