I took an English assessment for my hiring company, and honestly, the questions made no sense. It was like, 1- Would you like to go for a walk? 2- Is there anything I can do for you? 3- How can I assist you? Sorry, but as I see it, all these answers could be correct, yet they insist you choose the 'right' one?
Unfortunately, my company opted for this service. The tasks aren't great; you could use another platform that's more enjoyable for language learning. Group classes feel like a waste of time, with 45 minutes spent on just 2 minutes of studying. Individual classes are disappointing; the instructor had to search for basic A2 grammar online. They hire many native speakers without any qualifications. You could find better classes elsewhere. It seems the company prefers a 'unified' learning approach, but there's little chance to truly learn or improve.
I worked as a freelance language trainer for nearly three years with the service. Despite my commitment and experience, I was paid just $11 USD/hour the entire time, without any raise. That alone is disheartening, but the lack of clarity in how sessions are tracked and compensated is worse. They don't provide a detailed breakdown of pay, just vague totals, and no session list. No-show students are removed from your calendar without notice, so it appears the class never happened (and you don’t get paid). The contract states you should be compensated for cancellations with less than 6 hours' notice, but in reality, payment only occurs for late cancellations. The system only shows the past week, so unless you're manually documenting everything, auditing your work is impossible. When I raised these concerns, instead of resolving them, they offered a vague meeting and never provided the requested documents. This is a company that demands professionalism from its trainers but fails to reciprocate. If you're considering working here, be prepared to track everything yourself and face challenges regarding payment and communication. I've reported the company to the appropriate authorities and cannot recommend it to other freelancers.
The website is malfunctioning; I haven't been able to book an online course on my PC for a week, and the support team isn't helping me with this issue. Additionally, I find that most of the instructors are not native English speakers, making it difficult to find available teachers when the site is functional.
