A TRULY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE = I mistakenly booked a vehicle from an airport through a service that partnered with another company. Even though I used an AMEX card for the booking, the voucher indicated that a security deposit couldn't be processed that way, which is unusual for car rentals. They then refused to accept my physical Mastercards because they were from an online bank. I offered various Visa cards from a major U.K. bank, but since they were stored on Apple Pay, the company wouldn't accept them, citing their policy against taking deposits from cards on phones. I turned to my companion who had cards from U.K. banks, but payment had to come from the driver's card, and since my companion doesn't drive, that was not possible. I contacted the service again, but they denied a refund because I reached out after the rental was supposed to start. When I pointed out that I had contacted them beforehand and had proof, they changed their stance, claiming a 48-hour cancellation notice was needed. I reminded them that the booking was made less than 48 hours prior. It became clear to me that their business model seems designed to collect payment for a rental while making it nearly impossible to fulfill the contract by enforcing unreasonable rules. I feel like I'm wasting my time – there's nothing they will do to fix this situation. Their response was simply, 'That’s about right.' I HAVE GIVEN ONE STAR BECAUSE I CAN'T GIVE ZERO STARS. I will seek a refund from my card issuer if the service does not resolve this.
