***Big Mistake, Never Again*** Whilst looking on-line for somewhere to watch the FA Cup Semi Final...hay presto up popped Wooden Bridge Pub Guildford. Their Website specifically showed the FA Cup Semi Final as an option when booking, it also showed it online and was clearly shown on their own Fixtures List of games showing. To try and make sure we rang them directly and specially asked if they were officially showing the Semi Final with the confident reply from the manager "yes I am showing the game". We filled in the online booking form, chose the option that the booking was to watch the FA Cup Semi Final and off we went on our 40 minute drive to get there from where we live in Addlestone. Once there we purchased our first drinked and relaxed whilst looking at the menus to decide what food we would be having during our visit. You've probably worked out where this going... So, with 10 minutes to kick-off...the game that was being shown was in fact the Liverpool Premiership game! With our drinks only started I approached the staff to ask "what game are you actually showing this afternoon"...to which I was told "Liverpool v Spurs" I immediately advised the staff member that we had contacted them this afternoon to specifically ask if they where showing the FA Cup Semi Final and that we had been told they were. The staff member consulted a list and said confused that "it's not on our list of games that we are showing". Again I explained we had contacted them and been told they were showing the game, I asked how it could happen, I told them we had travelled all the way based on the advice we had been given and that our time had been wasted. The staff member just acted dumb and would answer, not even an apology or any recognition of their mistake and the impact it would have. Realising that we were clearly dealing with idiots, who neither knew or cared at all about the matter we left our drinks on our table and we left to try and find somewhere that was showing the game. The staffs utter disregard and total lethargy about the situation was and is 'shameful' and they should be nothing but ashamed and embarrassed, because the person we spoke to about our booking will be in no doubt about what they told us, no matter how they will try a d spin their BS reply. We will be making a follow up complaint to get our drinks refunded. Awful experience, total farce 👎
