What has happened in the past year? The quality of food has noticeably declined. There’s a lack of attention to detail in presentation. My daughter's lasagne was burnt and inedible, while my gammon was tough enough to return. The chips were tasteless, and my partner's chicken wrap was poorly assembled. The overall dining experience has really deteriorated.
This visit to Birchwood was disappointing; my meal was unpleasant and inedible. The chicken was wet, slimy, and cold. I tried to salvage it, but there was nothing good to find. When I voiced my concerns to the manager, I felt dismissed, as if my feedback was not taken seriously because of my gender. It's unfortunate because I usually enjoy the food, atmosphere, and service here. This experience has really tarnished my view of the place.
I don’t know if anyone has reviewed a TV commercial here before, but I must mention the embarrassing Christmas advert currently airing. It feels reminiscent of outdated cinema ads from decades ago. It’s poorly made and raises questions about their marketing choices and strategies. This does nothing to enhance the brand's reputation.

After years of visiting, I won’t return! I booked a table for four adults by the window but faced confusion upon arrival. The manager couldn’t locate my reservation and just told us to take a picture of the specials. The window was drafty, and when we asked to move, the manager forgot our drink order. Service was poor, with some tables served before us despite arriving later. My meal was unappetizing, and no one checked if we were satisfied with our food. The overall experience was disappointing.
We had dinner at the Compass recently, and I noticed a significant drop in the quality of both food and service since the new management took over. I hope things improve, as I fear many regular customers may start looking elsewhere.
