I went to do one campaign and was baffled by how generic and unhelpful everyone was, from curators to the staff.
Some statistics before jumping into it:
Paid $150
16/50 curators came with generic/nonconstructive feedback
1/50 curators came with a promise to share.
The service is marketed as 'Marketing for your music,' 'Promoting your music,' and 'Attention for your music.' It should be "Get Feedback on Your Music."
And instead of providing actual feedback, it was rejections, which the staff has mentioned is okay. So a 15-word text saying something like, 'Good track, high energy, not my taste' is what you pay for!
That is a rejection. Then the staff shifted and said you actually pay for someone to listen to your music. Again, you can determine in 10 seconds if a song is not yours and reject it, allowing the credits to go to someone who genuinely wants to provide proper feedback and listen to it.
Some of the 'feedback' from different curators was also very similar in its markup, like:
Curator A: Keep exploring your sound, and feel free to send more music anytime; I will be happy to listen.
Curator B: Keep creating and sharing your music, and feel free to send more tracks in the future; I will be happy to listen.
The sign-up and campaign creation process did not mention that you would receive feedback or a listen for your plays, which could cause misunderstandings if the platform is not explained to your customer.
I picked curators one by one, but even stations with the genre name said it's not our genre. I.e., sending a techno track to a techno radio station and then them saying, "We don't play techno!"
The staff team responded with, "I'm puzzled; so many thousands of artists did get it." This is a very dismissive way to approach a problem.
They also seem to keep repeating other services and state that pay-for-play is prohibited, which I am not asking about; I am mentioning the poor communications, clarity of the service, and poor execution of the Groover service, not other services.
I am to receive a partial refund, but they did not credit back the reported poor feedback. I will not be using this service again due to the unsatisfactory customer service.
I was 'helped' by Emma and Dorian.
