I was on a return flight from Bangkok to Sydney and the airline required me to check-in twice, which resulted in my luggage not being transferred directly to Sydney. Initially, I checked in at Bangkok airport, but upon arriving at Haikou airport in China, I had to exit the transit area, fill out an exit form, and go through immigration, including fingerprinting and a photo. After collecting my luggage, I waited until midnight to check in again and receive my boarding pass. In over 40 years of flying, this was the first time I had to check in twice for a flight with a short stopover on the same airline. Ironically, when I flew from Sydney to Bangkok, my luggage was transferred seamlessly at Haikou without needing to check in again. When I inquired at the airline's service desk in Bangkok about the inconsistency, they suggested I file a complaint, as they couldn't provide a clear answer. I'm sharing this experience to help others avoid similar unexpected situations with this airline.
