We paid Hammonds a several thousands upfront to install fitted wardrobes, with installation scheduled to take three days. We have used them previously and had highly recommended the company to others. Unfortunately this experience has been extremely disappointing.
The fitter sent to us appeared to be untrained and the work took five days before he quit the job. A manager then visited and informed us that the installation had been done incorrectly and that the wardrobes would need to be completely ripped out and redone.
We have now been told the earliest they can return to redo the work is in 20 days time leaving us with a partially installed and unusable room for several more weeks.
Despite calling Hammonds numerous times and submitting a formal written complaint, we have not received any meaningful communication, apology or offer of compensation for the disruption caused.
For a company that markets itself as a premium fitted furniture provider, this level of service and lack of accountability is very pretty shocking. We hope Hammonds will now take responsibility and firstly respond, then resolve the situation properly without having to involve the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman which Hammonds is registered with.
