Poor communication between Hotels.com and Hampton Inn

Bottom Line after all of this it appears that Hampton Inn may have a bias against 3rd party booking sitesI made a reservation using hotel. com for a hotel November 25 2019. Hampton Inn, Baton Rouge LA. Prior to my trip I had a medical problem and was told not to travel. I was in the "can't cancel" period but since my problem was medical I reached out to Hotels.com and they contacted the Hampton Inn. They sent me an email stating that the cancellation was approved at no charge. Found a charge on my card Hotel.com said I could contact the property, property said Gen Manager required charge since it was through a 3rd party billing site, They also said that if would have booked through them there probably wouldn't have been a problem. Hotel.com told me the property changed their mind. Pay the fee.
