We really wanted to love the side table we bought from Hartsmede but honestly the quality is just appalling. The positives:- Seems to be made of real timber- Looks decent from afar- Drawer runners are very smoothThe negatives:- The design on the top trim is clearly a different shape than the photos- The wood is cracked- Neither the front nor top designs are centred- Very thick opaque white adhesive is visible- Adhesive was put on so thick it oozed out the top and dried- Many of the white stencilled cut-in's are a discoloured yellowish-brown- The screwed-on base of the feet look misshapen- The legs have holes in them and have globs of leftover solder- The drawer knobs are loose and cannot be tightened because an interior front was installedThis is a far cry from the handcrafted, high quality we were promised and is inexcusable considering the premium price. No discolouration, centred designs, no obvious thick adhesive, and clean feet are all reasonable expectations to have when purchasing a piece of furniture, especially one priced above market. We've contacted Hartsmede about the significant quality control deficiencies and have yet to receive a response. We are very disappointed and just wish Hartsmede made furniture that matched up with their marketing.
