We went to a local restaurant and were quickly seated, but the staff member walked away. After about 30 minutes, someone finally asked if we wanted drinks, even though the place was quite empty. There were a few patrons at the bar, and while I considered approaching them, my partner suggested against it. Eventually, a waitress came to take our food order without any apology. My meal was acceptable, but the black pudding was a small, flavorless piece with a rubbery texture. When I asked the waitress to check with the chef, she simply smiled. I requested some English mustard, and an old plastic squeeze bottle arrived, with the “American” mustard almost solid. The lid fell into my plate, releasing some mustard that seemed to have been there for ages. After finishing our meals, I headed to the restroom, which required a long walk upstairs. I had asked my partner to order another beer while she got dessert. When I returned, there was still no beer. The dessert came, but still no beer. After my partner finished her dessert, we requested the bill. I mentioned the mustard issue to the same waitress, who offered a nervous smile. I then pointed out that the beer, which was still on her tablet, hadn’t been ordered. Another nervous smile followed, and we paid and left. Throughout our visit, we remained polite and didn’t cause any fuss. Restaurants like this aren’t expensive, yet customers expect courteous service and decent food.
