They explained that the final graft count would be confirmed in person. I respect this honesty, as I feel like many clinics might simply tell me what I want to hear. When the day arrived, I was greeted by a spotless, professional, and modern facility - “sterile” is a better term to describe it, I guess. I’ll admit, I was incredibly overwhelmed and seriously considered backing out, especially since I had traveled alone. For anyone in the same position, I recommend bringing someone along, even if they can’t join you in the operating room. I believe this would have made everything better for me. The staff’s empathy and reassurance helped feel at ease, though. The procedure itself was straightforward, with the only discomfort coming from the anesthesia injections. Throughout the five-hour operation, an English-speaking staff member regularly checked in, ensuring I was comfortable and answering any questions. I did fall asleep shortly into the operation with my AirPods in listening to a podcast.After the surgery, I was guided through the aftercare routine which consisted of antibiotics, shampoo, foam, and cleaning instructions, given a meal, and then transported back to my hotel. The entire process took about six hours. The next day, I returned to the clinic for bandage removal and a full head wash before being taken to the airport.Once home, I was contacted by Mustafa via WhatsApp, my dedicated one-year post-operative care specialist. He provides ongoing guidance, requests regular photo updates to track progress, and promptly addresses any questions or concerns. His support has been very helpful.Overall, I had a very positive experience at the Hermest clinic without any complaints. I look forward to recovering and am eager to see the final result in the coming months. I did get scratched by a cat in Istanbul which prompted me to get rabies and tetanus shots, but that’s neither here nor there and has nothing to do with the clinic. I also arrived in Istanbul a couple days before the surgery to explore - something I recommend as doing this after surgery is a lot more difficult and unpleasant.
