Well! People are self-conditioned that if they have bad service, they tell ten people. If they have good service they tell only one. I'm not of this persuasion. When I get good service, I tell just about everyone and the Hidden Hearing clinic in Leigh is just about as good as you can get if not better.
I have been plagued for a few months with hearing degradation in my left ear and a call to my GP suggested a visit to a well known franchise noted for their eyecare rather than hearing. I duly booked an appointment and was told that it wasn't blocked, but I should visit my GP for investigation. I paid £25 just for the consultation, bought some olive oil (recommended) and left to book an appointment with my doctor.
He told me that it was full of wax and, as they were unable to do anything these days, seek a reputable hearing centre. Well, I know where I wasn't going!
I was told about Hidden Hearing in Leigh and, after an unsuccessful afternoon trying to hear PMQ's decided to give them a ring.
A most delightful young lady on the phone, who I subsequently found out was Keely, took some details, heard my anguish and managed to squeeze me in to their busy schedule that afternoon.
Parking was a breeze – I unknowingly parked directly outside the shop - as there is a layby for cars.
I was greeted inside their immaculately clean and tidy clinic by a well-dressed, articulate and competent Keely who took some rudimentary details and introduced me to Wendy, a practitioner, who would have the not-so-nice job of looking in my ears. A quick peek confirmed my GP's conclusion that my ear was full to bursting, in direct contrast to what the previous clinic had said.
After a short wait and friendly chit chat with Keely, Wendy appeared and beckoned me to a small, discrete audiology room filled with her work tools. She again had a chat and a check and recommended the micro-suction option - a completely new one on me. She warned of the effects and noted my medication and began micro-suctioning.
The sensation was so relaxing and comforting with Wendy detailing her every move to put anyone, let alone me, a 6' 2" bloke, at ease.
Immediate relief! It must be so rewarding for her for someone to walk in with a problem and for her to solve it in moments. A quick check of the other ear revealed a small amount of build up but that was quickly removed using the same method.
She then put me through a basic and quick hearing test which did reveal that the top end of my hearing was somewhat lacking. I put this down to being 64, a drummer and listening to endless bands throughout my life and even now. Another test in a few months when my ears had settled was recommended.
In conclusion, the latter part of my ear journey could not have been smoother thanks to Keely and Wendy. Top class service, very reasonably priced and settling your concerns in as much as you can see from the outset that this is a professional outfit worthy of the credit due.
Best regards, you two and I won't be going anywhere else should I have the misfortune of a hearing deficiency.
