I discovered a bakery while searching for croissants that my husband could safely enjoy, avoiding his four major food allergies. Luckily, the central location had recently transitioned to a nut-free operation, allowing us to safely buy their bake-at-home items. After confirming this over the phone (the website had outdated info), we placed an order for the bake-at-home selection and a bread loaf. All the puff pastry items rose beautifully overnight and crisped up nicely with an egg wash, and the bread loaf was surprisingly delightful. The frozen sourdough for pizza was also a treat—our favorite way to use it was making dough balls drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with salt. Though my husband is French, he hadn't had the chance to enjoy truly fresh, crispy croissants until last year; previously, he only had the packaged ones. Seeing him relish good food makes me happy too.
