My review comes as a pet sitter of Holidog's since 2014. In the first year it was apparent that Holidog were not transparent about their subscription charge, in order to use the website and book sitters. This (very much) fell on me and others as sitters, to explain the subscription and provide instructions on how to "book" sitters. Another issue is that owners are able to subscribe and book their chosen sitter without any dialog, which often led to issues such as having multiple dogs that were not spayed/castrated without prior warning, or hosting to a dog that does not mix well with others. The only information a sitter is provided (dog booking requests) are: name, age and breed. It is then up to the owners to message the sitter with the dog's information such as character, friendly with others or not, spayed/castrated, habits, reactive, lead-pulling etc. I would ask these questions, but I can't speak on behalf of other sitters. I was often amazed with the lack of information, or false information, provided by owners which left me overwhelmed or unprepared. Holidog does not require much information from owners, leaving sitters out of their depth at times. Despite 5* reviews from EVERY owner over the years, Holidog accepted a review based on a 'meet & greet' from an owner. This review was damming, incorrect and simply slanderous. Holidog questioned me on this, and I explained what happened along with video and picture evidence. I was advised that I would be informed on the outcome of the investigation, but I heard nothing more. I later found out that the owner received a refund from the subscription, it seems I was used to fabricate their refund request. My Holidog profile is now closed and I use "Rover", as a comparison it is far better. I highly recommend! On the plus side, it gave me a lot of experience over the course of a decade and I have now branched out with my own branding. If you use Holidog, please be extremely cautious. Meet the sitter before the booking and if possible, arrange a few playdates/sleepovers in the run up to the booking, to make sure everyone is happy. If the sitter has little/no reviews and charges very little p/day, be vigilant.
