ABSOLUTE SCAMMERS!!!!Have been insurance with halifax for my home for past 6 years, never made a claim or alleged claim. Unfortunately in the past few weeks i was forced to due to an electric shortage issue which cause several rooms in my house to be without electricity and a freezer in the garage to break down which costed me in loss food contents items for over £700. Made the claim and the nightmare started with the most ignorant under-qualified call centre workers. They asked me A) to send pictures of the freezer, which i did no issues; B) send a full break down list of food loss and individual costs, again I did. Three days went by and eventually got a call from some very under-trained and clueless lady that shown the real scam of halifax building and contents insurance; no electric shortage and loss in power are covered by halifax, off course why would they....they collect premiums but provide no service in return!! And also no cover for the broken down freezer, again off course "building and content insurance" that covers no contents and building related items. I was told that no matter what the loss food items in the freezer were, the insurance would only cover £250.They never disclosed that before, they never sent me any paperwork to tell me that, THEY conveniently withheld this when spoken to two advisers, funny that right?? They were waiting for a list that was clearly pointless to compile to then protect themselves from paying out by making up an excuse and a rule AD HOC to make sure they didn't have to pay out or provide support and cover. Funny how that worked out eh, they could have said to me first time if it was the truth, but instead wasted my time in asking me to write an itemised food list and individual costs for something they already decided NOT to pay,Asked if i was covered for the freezer breaking down and they said obviously i wasn't why would i...just because i as paying for a building and contents insurance i expected to be covered for building and contents loss??? How crazy of me right.....what an absolutely lot of scammers...no issues collecting premiums and paying themselves huge commissions with them, but when its time to provide their customer support they disappear...they find all sort of clauses that protects their backs....funny that.Stay away people, halifax homes insurance = scam.they take your money and give nothing in return!!!1
