Engineer came to look at my freesat dish. The website clearly states that a repair is £69.95 including VAT, and including the engineers diagnostic. When he arrived I was told the dish would need replacing and was charged £180, but actually it was just the arm of the dish that was changed - something I could have got for £12 on Amazon and done with a step ladder. It literally took the guy 5 mins but I was forced to pay up front before the work started and without being told what he would do or how easy it was. Today BBC news had a report about a company called 24/7 Locksmiths UK doing something called a “bait-and-switch scam” (I.e. quoted a small amount online and then over charged for a simple job) and that made me realise that this is exactly what the company did to me. Please avoid, they will not charge you what the website says and they will take your money before you realise you’ve been scammed
