Really was impressed how helpful and supportive HS LEGAL SOLICITORS were. Such a smooth transition when buying our home. Easy to follow instructions and always so helpful in emails or WhatsApp. Would definitely recommend and return to them again.
I used this company( although it seems to only be one solicitor, supported with what I have found to be inept case workers) for purchase/sell conveyancing last year and await a legal ombudsman review into my complaint. I initially complained to the solicitor about his companies service re below but received no reply. Issues as follows;
-Emails were sent to me from the personal email address of the solicitor with no signature, meaning I didn't know who I am corresponding with or how many different case workers. I requested that emails sent to me were signed, but this was ignored.
- An email was sent to me from this account confirming my completion date (again anonymous) so I booked a removal company. The email was incorrect as contracts had not been exchanged. This confirmation resulted in an additional cost of £420 for removals as I had to change the date. The solicitor, or their case workers, tried to defend their position by another anonymous email stating the date was for my purchase only...however this had not been agreed with any of the other parties and they had not completed all the required steps to do so -nothing signed whatsoever or agreed. The email from HS legal solicitors was fantasy. They also updated the incorrect completion date for both purchase and sale on their conveyancing portal which customers have access to, and both sale and purchase had to be completed on the same day.
- Because of their false date they also billed me for an extra bank transfer fee for release of the mortgage funds from the incorrect date they had provided...as they forget to cancel the release of funds. I got this fee back eventually.
- I have never been able to speak to the solicitor or had signed correspondence from him. He never answered the phone, Whats Apps messages or replied to emails.
-I rang the HS offices numerous times and requested to speak to my solicitor. I have never been put through successfully and my calls never returned by the solicitor, despite specifically asking to speak to my solicitor. Instead I have received emails from - I don't know who they were from, as they were not signed, apart from one case worker I had sporadic interaction with. I have no evidence this solicitor actually exists or works from the Colchester office, or if any of his case workers do.
- To add insult to injury, on moving day, after completion, there was a surplus of funds to be paid to me from HS solicitors, Despite chasing that afternoon, when the office was still open, I was not sent the money. An email reply to me said the finance dept was dealing with it. When I spoke to reception they told me there is no finance dept. I finally got the money the next day after more chasing.
I await an update from the legal ombudsman after complaining to them.
Summary -If you want a solicitor who won't return any communication, relies on case workers who won't say who they are, and you don't know who you are communicating with or their level of experience, want to risk relying on completion dates without foundation, costing you financially, your money not being sent to you on completion day, inaccurate billing, and a solicitor who does not have the basic decency reply to complainants, this solicitor is the man for you. It is almost funny looking at his replies to others who have complained, and the length he goes to, to defend himself. If he took this time with my case and others, perhaps issues would have been resolved, but as I have written, I don't actually know if the man exists...

From the beginning to the end, this company provided an amazing service in the sale and purchase of our property. Everything was made incredibly easy, Their online forms were very user-friendly, which made the whole process less stressful. Any questions we had, they always got back to us within 24 hours. We cannot recommend them highly enough.
Great communication and prompt at responding, don’t phone as you will not get put through, just email and you get a response within a few hours which I was happy with, our sale took for ever to go through but it was 100% the buyers solicitors that slowed things down, I would use HS Legal Solicitors again for sure.

I have just completed a lengthy and complicated conveyance on a property in Burnley with HS Legal.
