I live in a housing cooperative and recently faced an issue with my door lock. The management is insisting that the lock is completely my responsibility and is charging me an outrageous fee for 2.5 hours of labor for a simple cylinder change. Their logic is flawed: if I am entirely responsible for the lock, why do they and the housing association keep a master key to my home? It’s unreasonable to claim ownership of the lock while maintaining access to it, yet refusing responsibility for its maintenance when it fails. To make matters worse, their technician arrived unprepared without the necessary parts, despite a clear fault report. I am now forced to pay for their poor planning and extra trips. Customer service is unwilling to engage in a fair discussion. This feels like a way to extract money from residents instead of providing a professional service. Very disappointed in the management's lack of transparency and common sense.
