My Review of Hubbl 4k Hub OS ver 1.3

My Review of Hubbl 4k Hub OS ver 1.3, Build QS037.031.OOP, UI 2.9.11 I transitioned from standard Binge $18/month to basic Binge at $10/month as it provided the same channels as Foxtel that I was paying $78/month to Foxtel. Basic Binge is for 1 device up to 1080p and 5.1 Dolby atmos surround sound. Standard Binge is for 2 devices up to 4k resolution for a very limited number of shows and movies. I chose Hubbl 4k Hub $99 as it was 4k capable and the only device that had a 7 day TV guide for both the Foxtel channels and free to air channels. Hubbl 4k Hub is easy to setup and also has ability to set favourite channels and a Watch List feature that provides an easy way to watch TV shows on demand eliminating the need to have a record function for shows on the Foxtel channels. Initially I had many Hubbl issues including "Technical Fault with this program try again later" and failures to connect to the internet over ethernet cable on device startup. These issues occurred at least once every day. This required unplugging the Hubbl box to re-establish an internet connection. After much testing I eventually found both type of errors were due to Hubbl 4k Hub inability to change IP address after our personal mobile phones had taken the Hubbl IP address on multiple occasions when the Hubble box was simple switched off. The solution was to reserve the IP address in the DHCP settings of my TP Link Router by adding a new Reservation using the Hubbl MAC address and desired IP address within the specified DHCP pool. Most router's have this feature. After this fix the Hubbl hub connected noticably faster and connected to internet extremely reliably due to its fixed and permanent local IP address. Pity the Hubbl box does not allow you input manual network addresses like every other device including TVs, DVD, Media players and Foxtel. I believe this would allow even faster & more reliable Hubbl connections with a specified IP address, subnet mask, gateway and primary & secondary DNS. I found it very easy through Hubbl to change from a standard Binge to Basic Binge subscription and to also cancel my Lifestyle app subscription. For both changes I received immediate emails confirming the changes. However I did notice on the mobile phone it was not very intuitive the need to press "Review Order" then "Continue" then "Confirm" button after selecting the subscription to cancel (or choose edit) that may be reasons why some persons have difficulty cancelling. I also contacted Hubbl help several time's via the online chat with helpfull persons and each time received the info and fixes that I needed. One of the issues was we somehow ended up with 2 Hubbl accounts one with credit card and recent subscriptions and one without. The help desk arranged the transfer of my private mobile number to the active Hubbl account that fixed the issue. Another issue was my PIN did not work so help desk guided me through the process of resetting it.Procedure to correct incorrect PIN: By default, your PIN will be the last four digits of the mobile number linked to your account unless you change it. Note: If the mobile number linked to your account is updated, the default PIN will not change. If your PIN isn't being accepted follow these steps: 1. On the mobile device you’re using to scan the QR code, visit Hubbl website to logout. 2. Unplug the Hubbl device from the power source. 3. Turn off the broadband modem. The modem must stay off until step 6 has been completed. 4. Connect the Hubbl device to power again. You'll see “No WiFi connection” on screen - scroll down and select Settings. 5. Select System Management, then Resets & Updates. 6. Select Factory Reset, then Continue. 7. Reconnect the broadband modem and follow the prompts on screen to set up the Hubbl device.I have given all of the above issues as feedback to Hubbl. Another important element is that I do have an extremely reliable NBN network connection via Spintel with minimum speed of 50Mbps. Binge Standard 4k requires at least 25Mbps and Binge Basic 1080p at least 7.5Mbps so both resolutions are well and truly covered. However it would have been an improvement to receive hard copy of instructions to reveal/understand the following features that in some cases match the Foxtel remote features:Firmware updates are automatic within 24hrs of new release.About Hubbl Hub Energy Saving mode: If there's been no activity on the Hubbl remote for 3 hours and 55 minutes, the Hubbl device will enter energy-saving mode and go into standby. You'll see a message appear on screen before the device enters energy-saving mode. To avoid this, just pick up the Hubbl remote. In line with Australian Energy Saving guidelines, it is not possible to disable energy-saving settings on Hubbl.
