I recently installed IDrive and I am very pleased with product. I have been using Carbonite for many years and for the last couple years I have been very unhappy with product. Very poor customer service and a lot of difficulty when trying to install. I am fairly tech savvy, but I could not do it without the help of their customer service. The IDrive installation was very straight forward. I had no problems selecting the files/folder that I wanted to back up. The interface is intuitive. It backed up extremely quickly on the initial backup, while the initial backup on Carbonite took over a day. I do like the Carbonite feature where the icons on the laptop show a checkmark if they are backed up, a feature that IDrive does not have. On my last backup it showed that 59 files failed to back up. I initially could not find where the log was to determine what had failed. I had to use AI to ask, and it showed that I should click the “View Log” tab. The reason I had a problem was that I did not have a tab that said “View Log”, it was just an icon. However, because the AI showed the location, I found it and when I hovered over it, it says ”Activity Logs”. It was a permission issue. I wished there was a general button marked “Help” with a dropdown and search feature. In summary I think that the app is great. I would highly recommend it. Since I only have about 110GB to back up I purchased the 500GB plan, which was about 90% less expensive than Carbonite. I am now a loyal customer, great program and hopefully I will never have an emergency where I will need to use it, but it’s great insurance.
