The products are expensive, but fantastic. I will likely continue to splurge occasionally but not subscribe at this time because, well, have you seen the economy lately?
I'm giving 4 stars because of my experience, not the products. I had to decline THREE separate pop-up ads for products before checking out today. THREE. I was very close to just abandoning the cart at that point.
I also really dislike the passive-aggressive tone of messages like, "no, thanks, I don't want 20% off," "no thanks, I'm not interested in massive deals," and the like. "Maybe later" is a much better choice.
If you have people who agree to receive email marketing, please, dear lord, scale it back. I do not want to hear from you daily or even weekly. Your products are an expensive luxury item for me and it's not like I buy makeup even every month. If nothing else, allow customers to set our preferences to something better than "yes" or "no."
Love the products, love the return policy, love the quality of the mystery gifts I've received so far. However, at some point, my irritation will likely end in deciding not to buy because I don't want to get spammed with "add this? or this? or this?", emails asking for a review of the product, emails asking for a review of the experience, emails saying "here are a bunch of great tips on the product you ordered" with basic instructions (like DUH) and a link to click for more.
One last thing; I would much rather log into the website directly rather than waiting for an email with a link.
