I use a fronting debit card, which proved beneficial in this situation. I attempted to sign up for a 'try it free' foundation offer but had the wrong card selected. Although there was enough for the £4.95 postage, there wasn't enough for the temporary hold of £79 they tried to take. They attempted this transaction seven times, which felt suspicious. The next day, I received a call supposedly from my bank regarding a refund for that hold, but I knew it was a scam as they called me by my maiden name and used my delivery address instead of my home address. They attempted to get me to log in to their app to authorize a £2500 refund, which clearly would have resulted in me approving that payment. Be very cautious when entering card details online!
