A few years ago, I paid a one-time fee to InsideTracker that gave me lifetime access to upload my blood results and analyze them (called the DIY plan if I remember correctly). This worked fine until yesterday, when I logged in and was blocked by an "Activate Membership" popup asking me to pay for a monthly subscription. I can't use the site anymore unless I pay again.I contacted customer service, but they told me that while the plan was "intended to be yearly", their system didn't enforce renewals at the time. Now they've moved to a subscription model, and if I want to keep using the functionality I originally paid for, I have to subscribe. No refund, no honoring of what was promised. When I paid for lifetime access, there was no mention of this being temporary. To change the rules years later and lock me out feels dishonest. My existing results may still be visible, but the core functionality I purchased has been taken away. This is not only bad customer service, it's misleading business practice.
